McCotter Contributor Sentenced Today for Bribery
Why Does McCotter Still Refuse to Return $5,000 in Dirty Money Donated by Convicted Fellow Republican Congressman Duke Cunningham?
Dearborn Heights, MI—Democratic congressional candidate Tony Trupiano today expressed outrage that Thad McCotter has yet to return $5,000 in campaign contributions from convicted felon Randy “Duke” Cunningham, a crooked former
member of Congress from California that admitted to accepting bribes and will be sentenced this afternoon.
“Today is a true test of Thad McCotter’s character,” Tony Trupiano said. “Actions speak much louder than words, and as much as McCotter wants to distance himself from the corruption and scandal plaguing the Republican-controlled Congress, his stubborn refusal to return $5,000 in dirty money from a convicted fraud is inconceivable and reprehensible.”
Trupiano said McCotter’s refusal to return the tainted money is further evidence that he is part of the problem in Washington.
“The current crop of so-called leaders in the United States Congress and White House have made a mockery of the word ‘Representative’ and this is a test of whether Thad McCotter is willing to step outside of the pack and make a statement that the cronyism, corruption and arrogance of power that is rampant in Washington is
wrong,” Trupiano said. “Either McCotter has blinders on or doesn’t care how keeping this dirty money looks to the average American person.
“This is yet another in a stream of examples that Thad McCotter is more concerned with power and politics than he is with doing what is right.”
