Senator Max Cleland
Cleland Will Actively Campaign for Trupiano’s Congressional Campaign
Dearborn Heights, MI – Tony
Trupiano, Democratic candidate for Congress in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, this week received the endorsement of Senator Max Cleland, Senator from Georgia for six years and Vietnam vet.
This is a vote of confidence in the Trupiano campaign showing the national momentum that Trupiano’s campaign is picking up with nationally respected leaders. Trupiano said that he is honored and “promised to live up to Senator Cleland’s confidence in me, leading by his example when I am elected to the United States Congress.”
Cleland represents a voice for the top priorities of the Trupiano for Congress campaign - homeland security and the huge expense of the war in Iraq, while job loss and the cutting of programs here at home such as student loan funding continue. Trupiano continued, “Senator Cleland is one of the few people who we have out there fighting for Americans on these issues. The fact is the failed policies
of President Bush and this Congress have made us no safer, no stronger and no more secure as a nation.”
As a part of his endorsement, Senator Cleland will actively support Trupiano and is planning a trip to the 11th Congressional District this spring to campaign with him. He will also help with media needs.
Trupiano, calling Senator Cleland a “hero for all Americans” stated, “ Max Cleland exemplifies what leadership means at times of great concern in this country with regard to our homeland security and honoring the men and women that serve in our Military, like my son Christopher. He continues to show the courage to make decisions that make a difference.”
Senator Cleland, a Vietnam vet who lost both legs and his right arm when a grenade exploded during his service in Vietnam, has attained significant improvements for veterans returning from war. Through various groups, including Band of Brothers, Cleland is an authority on health care, bio-terrorism preparedness, and homeland security. Cleland was originally appointed to serve on the 9/11 Commission but resigned shortly after and became a member of the board of directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States
